Two more deaths.
If you are one of the millions of readers awaiting the seventh and final book of the Harry Potter series, these words will seem ominous.
And in an interview broadcast on Britain's Channel 4, author J K Rowling has admitted to more than just killing off two characters who she 'did not intend to die' in the final instalment of the series which has made her richer than the English Queen and rewritten the history of children's fiction.
She has said she wrote the final chapter a long time ago, and that it is hidden away, 'although it's now changed very slightly.'
And if you are waiting for confirmation of the Harry Potter fan's deepest fear -- that the boy wizard will die to rid the world of the evil Lord Voldemort -- you will have to draw your own conclusion.
All Rowling said was, 'I've never been tempted to kill him (Harry) off before the end of Book 7, because I always planned seven books, and that's where I want to go. I can completely understand, however, the mentality of an author who thinks, "Well, I'm going to kill them off because that means there can be no non-author-written sequels."'
But Potter fans need not break their wands in despair yet, as Rowling has also said, 'One character got a reprieve.'

I'm really excited about the seventh book; it is so hard to wait for the next one, especially since I discovered the books late, so I read 1-4 in a matter of months.
**SPOILERS**
I am convinced that Snape is good and that Dumbledore will be back a la that whole phoenix thing!
I have to re-read the sixth book because I read it in such a rush that I'm sure I missed many details. One death in book seven has to be Voldemort. And since there is no more after book seven, although I wouldn't want Harry to die, I wouldn't be surprised if he did. Though I doubt it, because I don't think Rowling wants to leave such a bitter taste in her readers' mouths for generations to come!

I've just started reading the 6th book (only got into the books recently myself) and I got spoilt by a friend. But yeah the Dumbledore thing came as a shock. I'm trying to read this book slowly actually, I rushed through book five and now can't figure out where book four ends and book five begins. And since there is some time left til the next one, I'm going to take this one slow. I wouldn't be surprised if Harry is killed off though.

LOL, nope not you dude. This was when I was still reading the fourth book and was raving to my friend (actually the same friend who convinced me to give the books a go) about how much I was enjoying it and he blurted it out to me. Took me some time to forgive him though.

I hate that! I have a very hard time getting into things when I know the ending, so when people spoil it for me, I have a hard time convincing myself to go ahead with it anyway.
Glad to hear it wasn't me!! ;D

Well I'm glad there will be some deaths (I'm mean aren't I?) but now I'm going to have to worry about who has died for the next year or so... two dead so far. This book better be good. speculative spoilersHarry has got to cop it. Sorry. I think all that stuff with the wands in GOF suggested that the two are linked... one cannot die while the other lives. As long as Ron and Hermione finally get it on... cause the teen angst in 6 really tried my patience.

Ditto to Ron and Hermione fiiiinally happening. Has to. I fear Ron will get the axe. Which sucks, he's my favourite character in the series, but I'm not doing any crying in advance.. Will see. I had more problems with the 6th book than the 5th so I can't really say. In a way it doesn't matter whether it'll suck or not, I just want to see how it ends.

I have the same suspicion as everyone else. Harry and Voldemort will die in the seventh I believe. But a small, annoying voice in the back of my head has said that it could be Ron. I've thought that since everyone announced that somebody would die in the fifth book. The fact that Ron has always hated that Harry got the limelight always gave me a bad feeling. Maybe Voldemort will take advantage of Ron's jealousy and use him against Harry. NOOO!

Finally finished the sixth book. *Spoilers ahead* Firstly, Harry/Ginny? WTF, was it just me staring at the book like it came out of nowhere! And I found it hard to believe that Ron would be so approving of his best friend and sister getting together. Snape. I'm with Sam, Snape must be good. I refuse to believe that Dumbledore could have been fooled by false tears and regret. If he really is evil, I'll be dissapointed, even though I hate him. I hope Dumbledore's character comes back in the next book, it is possible. I see no reason for Sirius to be bought back. And If Harry does cop it, which I don't think he will but if he does, I wouldn't be surprised. I don't want Ron to die. Ron/Hermoine, get it on already!

Amz you're so late.
Hahaha, I had seen Harry/Ginny mentioned and supported by various Ron/Hermione fans I knew online so when it came to be, I wasn't surprised as much as I was annoyed because it happened in a really quick way. Build-up, hello? Suddenly Harry was like "OMG I like Ginny!". Fine, I guess teenagers can be like that but still.
What REALLY slapped me in the face was Remus/Tonks. WTFFFFF on a biscuit was that about?!
I want to believe Snape is good, too. If he's evil it'd just be wrong, like saying "Hey all mean people are REALLY evil!" and confirming Harry's continuing suspicions about him would just suck. I want Harry to be wrong about Snape.

Hey at least I got there in the end. And I agree about Snape. I had a huge debate with a friend of mine, (same one who spoiled the sixth book) he believes Snape is evil and I don't. It would definately suck if it turns out he is though. Plus I can't see Dumbledore being fooled by tears and regret. I reckon there's more to it. There must be.

What REALLY slapped me in the face was Remus/Tonks. WTFFFFF on a biscuit was that about?! That is so funny! And I totally agree. I did see the Ginny/Harry thing coming after she got over her crush, but became more "mature," etc. etc. etc. Didn't exactly love it, but I didn't like the whole Cho thing, so I was happy it was someone else. I adore Ron and don't want him to die. But I think it'd be silly for Harry to die because if the prophecy is that one cannot live without the other dying, then if he kills Voldemort, he should be fine and he doesn't have to die. I think Dumbledore will be around through his portrait on the wall and I'm still not discounting the whole phoenix thing, but Rolling has said so many times that Sirius is dead for sure that if he came back to life, it'd be lame. Though I must say, killing him off by way of the curtain (as opposed to the killing curse or something else) was a bit suspect. I'm re-reading book 6 and my friend has some wild theories about the inn-keeper and Dumbledore's brother and the identity of the mystery person, etc. I guess I'll have a lot of time to put it all together since book 7 will not be published until sometime in (mid-to-late?) 2007. I don't have the patience to read the on-line blogs; anyone have more current info?!
