Rani Mukherjee looking sexy in a sari19th June 2006 19.50 IST By Nikhil Kumar You don’t necessarily have to wear fewer clothes to look sexy. Sari is one Indian outfit that has been grossly underestimated in highlighting a woman’s sex appeal. While it undoubtedly gives an elegant and graceful look to its wearer, it also enhances the sex appeal without appearing vulgar. Sushmita Sen bowled many of her admirers over when she appeared in chiffon saris in Farah Khan’s Main Hoon Na . And now, Karan Johar ’s forthcoming film Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna has Rani Mukherjee looking demure and yet sexy in expensive saris. The film’s costume designer is Manish Malhotra . With the exception of some sequences in the film, Rani wears saris with backless blouses for the most of her part in KANK. Designer Manish Malhotra can’t seem to stop raving about Rani’s look in the film. “Rani is one of the few actresses who know how to carry a Sari well. She looks incredibly sexy in some of these outfits (in the film). The sensuousness she exudes is aesthetic,” a report quotes Manish Malhotra as saying. KANK also has Preity Zinta wearing some very expensive dresses. But her outfits are western, keeping with her character in the film. The movie stars Shah Rukh Khan and Abhishek Bachchan in the male leads. www.apunkachoice.com/scoop/bo...0060619-3.html

Ever since I started this hobby (mania), I've posted dozens of messages saying any girl or woman from anywhere would look more feminine in a sari. Not exactly able to put into words what it is, but I get confirmation every time I see another example. I went to see Birju Maharaj, one of India's top Kathak guru. There was a blonde American fan in the row behind me, looking absolutely smashing in a sari! My wife once asked me "What do you want for your birthday." I said "I want to buy you a sari and have you promise to wear it." Well, it turned out I couldn't have whatever I wanted for that birthday. It wouldn't have cost her a cent, it was just to please me, but she wouldn't do it. So dont ever tell me that whatever you believe in you can achieve.
Anyway, I'm for saris being worn everywhere by everyone female. I'm a great fan of short skirts, but when it finally comes down to choosing, saris win. Its no miracle that Rani looks sexy in a sari. It is a given that she would. As would Vidya. As does Nandita. As does Aishwarya.
