Shah Rukh Khan and Sushmita Sen come together in the capital of chic for a ritzy, glitzy affair — Bollywood ishtyle! What happens when India’s premier purveyors of style are spotted in Paris, soaking in a roomful of Louis Vuittons, feasting on foie gras and clinking to Chablis? Well, you call it a homecoming of sorts! Ok, on a rewind mode —Shah Rukh and Sushmita were invited on Monday by Louis Vuitton to visit their Asnieres workshop situated in the Vuitton family house, where they were privy to the making of the special orders, trunks and show bags. Post the workshop, the two then visited an LV museum and attended a private sit-down dinner for 20, hosted especially in their honour by the brand president Yves Carcelle and his wife Rebecca. “Both are connoisseurs of the brand and Shah Rukh does carry our travel accessories,” informed brand advisor Tikka Shatrujit Singh, who was also present at the event. “He was shooting in Paris and we took this as an opportunity to invite them both for this tour and dinner.” Bollywood’s association with luxury brands is clearly on the ascent what with designers like Manish Malhotra and style savvy directors like Karan Johar patronising brands from Cavalli and LV to Dior and Ralph Lauren for their movies. “Manish has given SRK, Rani and Preity some LV products for ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’,” adds Tikka. Shah Rukh was presented a watch and Sushmita a bag and a pair of matching shoes. Haute stuff this! SRK and Sush enjoyed a sit-down dinner where the meal was — in true Parisian tradition — an affaire gastronomique. Here’s what the menu included: Foie Gras with caramel and fish with a fig compote Tomato gazpacho and Mustard sherbet Roasted seabass with vegetables Peach soup with basilica sherbet Little Madeleine cookie |
